The carrier board is the backbone of the proposed system and performs the following functions:
- Carriage of the calculation unit and signal routing from the adapter boards to it
- Provisioning of communication interfaces like Ethernet, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, UART, JTAG
- Power Supply supporting a wide input voltage of 9V to 36V used to generate three additional voltage levels on-board (1.8V, 3.3V and 5V)
- Provisioning of three analog adapter board sockets and five digital adapter board sockets
